We understand the need for a perfect honeymoon, it’s a time to embrace the loveliness of being newlyweds and the enchantment of each other’s undivided attention. After our wedding in June 2013 we had a mini honeymoon after we got married to the Greek island of Rhodes and it was fantastic after all the pre-wedding stress, organisation and anxiety. We also saved up for a ‘big’ honeymoon where we jetted off to Jamaica for 3 whole weeks of romantic activities, scuba diving and stuffing our faces with jerk chicken. A Caribbean honeymoon is highly recommended, and we think our lovely little rock is the perfect place. There are numerous romantic activities for couples on a honeymoon in St Kitts and Nevis or if you are just looking for romantic couples’ things to do for Valentine’s Day or a special occasion then keep reading.
Watch the Sunset
Now this may sound like a cliché, but St Kitts and Nevis has some spectacular sunsets over the Caribbean Sea and what better way to enjoy them than with the love of your life. For the ultimate romantic sunset experience, we recommend heading to one of the fantastic Caribbean beaches and grabbing your favourite alcoholic drink from a nearby beach bar, then strolling along the beach hand in hand whilst sipping your rum punch as the sun dips below the horizon. Perfect. You may even see the infamous but elusive ‘green flash’ if you’re lucky!
Sunset Cruise on a Catamaran
A sunset cruise on a catamaran is dreamy way to spend an evening as newlyweds. A 2-hour small group cruise with soft music playing alongside the sound of the waves. Sailing along the Caribbean coast down the southeast peninsula and sipping cocktails from the open bar is the picture-perfect end to any day on a honeymoon in St Kitts. The vibe is barefoot casual so you can easily get away with wearing shorts and t-shirts on board as you watch the sky perform its colour change routine.
Horseback Riding
Couples horseback riding combines adventurous and romantic activities together. Saddle up on Nevis for a horseback island tour ending with ‘seahorse’ riding along the beach and into the waves. You can have a cheaper group ride or a more expensive, but much more romantic private horseback ride. We haven’t done this here yet, but we did in Jamaica and it was honestly one of the best experiences we had on our honeymoon.
Visit the Hot Springs
Snuggle up together in the natural volcanic hot springs on Nevis. Only 10 minutes from the main town of Charlestown, the hot springs are ideal for a morning soaking away your cares together, (or plotting world domination, whatever floats your boat). The hot springs are free to visit and we would recommend visiting first thing in the morning or later in the afternoon/evening because the heat from the volcanic waters combined with the Caribbean sun can be intense.
Wander the Botanical Gardens
Picture this…you and your SO wandering under shaded vine covered pergolas, breathing in the scent of tropical flowers, and listening to the trickle of a nearby fountain. The botanical gardens are the idyllic place for a lazy couples afternoon, it has different areas so even on a busy day there is always somewhere secluded to canoodle. There are shaded seating areas and even some swings and hammocks to enjoy. Keep an eye out for the elusive hummingbirds too and watch out for the cheeky monkeys in the fruit tree garden.
Get a Couples Massage
Getting a couples massage is an intimate and relaxing experience, often teamed with wine or champagne and the use of spa facilities or a candlelit soak in a giant tub. We love to get a couple massage whenever we go away. There are a few different places where you can indulge in a couples massage in St Kitts and Nevis, with the obvious choices being the spa centres in the luxury resorts around the islands. In St Kitts that would be the Emerald Mist Spa at the Marriott Resort or the Sugar Mill Spa & Sanctuary at the Park Hyatt. On Nevis that would be the spa and wellness centre at the Four Seasons.
Other options for couples massage experiences can be found at local beauty centres. Like the Royal Chop Shop located in Frigate Bay in St Kitts and the Compassionate Touch Spa and Salon in Nevis.
You could even buy a resort day pass and enjoy the other amenities while you are there.
Enjoy a Candlelit Dinner
Another slight cliché for a romantic activity on a honeymoon in St Kitts and Nevis is a candlelit dinner but hear me out. I’m not just talking about a dinner at any restaurant (although there are some great restaurants on St Kitts and Nevis) I’m talking about fancy luxury dinner for two in intimate settings.
On Nevis we would recommend dinner at the Montpellier in the Restaurant 750. Or for an exclusive dining experience book a private table for two in the sugar Mill Priveé for the ultimate romantic candlelit dinner. On St Kitts we would recommend dining at the Pavilion in Christophe Harbor or in the Stone Barn which is an adult only restaurant at the Park Hyatt.
We hope these ideas for romantic activities are helpful for planning your honeymoon in St Kitts and Nevis. We know all too well how easy it is to stay in your couple bubble when you are newlywed.
